About Us
Fehr Contracting was built on a simple belief: do the job right, treat people honestly, and the reputation will follow. After more than 15 years in the industry - including years spent as subcontractors for established window and door companies across the region - we decided it was time to do things our way. We brought our skills, our standards, and our track record directly to homeowners across Southwest Ontario.
Quality isn't a selling point for us - it's a standard. We don't cut corners, and we don't leave until the job is done right.
Full liability coverage and WSIB on every job. You know who's showing up and you're covered if anything goes sideways.
We quote fairly and communicate honestly - including about timelines. Scheduling in this trade isn't always predictable, and we'd rather be upfront with you than overpromise. No surprises on the invoice.
Hundreds of satisfied customers across the region. We've earned our reputation one job at a time - and we intend to keep it.
The Owner
My wife and I started this company and we run it together. I'm still on every job personally while we build the business to where we want it. That means right now, you're getting the owner on your project - and everything that comes with that.

FAQ
Straight answers to the questions we hear most.
Pricing & Costs
Depends on the type and size. Basement windows start around $800-$2,000, bedroom windows $1,500-$3,500, bathroom windows $1,500-$2,500, and large feature or accent windows $3,500-$5,500. All prices include supply and installation. Check our pricing section for a full breakdown.
A single entry door runs $3,500-$7,000 installed. Sidelites add $750-$2,500 each. Price depends on the door material (steel vs. fiberglass), glass design, colour, and hardware. We supply and install everything.
A 2-panel sliding patio door runs $2,500-$5,000 installed. Price varies by size, glass package, and colour.
French patio doors and double entry doors run $4,000-$12,000 installed. The range depends on size, material, glass package, and whether sidelites or transoms are included.
Bay and bow windows run $3,500-$8,000 installed. The wide range comes down to number of panels, size, glass package, trim style, and whether new head and seat sills are needed. We'll give you an exact number after a quick site visit.
Yes - everything on our pricing page is a fully installed price. You don't pay separately for product and labour. Final cost varies based on size, colour, glass package, and trim finish. We provide free no-obligation quotes.
No. Our quotes are all-in - product, labour, trim, and cleanup. The only time the price changes from the quote is if we open the wall and find something unexpected, like rotted framing or structural issues. If that happens, we stop and show you before we proceed. No surprises.
The prices on our website are based on typical residential installations in standard homes, drawn from 15+ years of hands-on experience in the area. They're real numbers, not lowball estimates to get you on the phone. That said, every home is different. Oversized windows, custom configurations, difficult access, or structural issues may result in a price outside the ranges shown. Think of the website pricing as a reliable guide for a typical job. We'll give you an exact, no-obligation quote for your specific home before any work begins.
Yes, we typically require a deposit when we place the product order. The balance is due on completion. We'll go over payment terms when we provide your quote.
Because we stand behind everything we install - and that's only possible if we do the job right the first time. A lifetime workmanship warranty isn't something you can offer when you're cutting corners on installation. We use proper flashing, correct shimming, air sealing, and trim work on every unit. That takes more time than a quick swap-and-go. If you find someone cheaper, ask them what their warranty looks like and who you call when something goes wrong two years later. We're not the right fit for everyone, but if you want it done once and done properly, that's what you're paying for.
The Process
It's straightforward. You reach out, we come out and measure, we give you a written quote. If you're happy with it, we place the order. Lead times are typically 3-6 weeks for custom product. We schedule the install, show up on time, do the work, clean up, and you're done.
Window replacements typically take 1 to 3 hours per unit depending on size and trim finish. Door installations run 1.5 to 4 hours depending on the door type and any framing work involved. On a full window day we typically get through 5-8 windows. We work efficiently and respect that you have a life going on around the job.
Custom windows and doors are typically 3-8 weeks from order to delivery. Standard windows are usually on the shorter end, while custom doors can take up to 8 weeks. We'll give you a precise timeline when we place the order. Once product arrives, we schedule your install quickly - usually within a week or two.
Most customers stay home while we work - it's your house and you're welcome to be there the whole time. Some customers head out for part of the day, whatever you're comfortable with. We'll do a quick walkthrough at the start and again when we're done so you can see the finished work before we leave.
Yes. We handle new cut-ins, expanding existing openings, and closing them entirely. Cut-in work runs $1,500-$6,500 depending on the size of the opening, wall type, and whether new headers or brace walls are involved. The window or door unit is quoted separately. One important note: we do not do brickwork. On brick exteriors we cut and remove brick as needed to create the opening, but any brick repair or replacement is the homeowner's responsibility.
The balance is due the day the job is completed. Our installer will collect payment on site and have you sign a completion certificate before we pack up. We want you to have a chance to look everything over first - your sign-off means you're happy with the work.
Products & Quality
We work with trusted Canadian manufacturers including VDK Windows and Doors, Northstar Windows, and Doorway Doors. All are built for our climate and backed by solid warranties. If you have a specific product or brand in mind, we're happy to work with it - just let us know and we'll make it happen.
Yes. All our standard windows include double-pane glass with argon gas fill and Low-E coating - the right combination for Ontario winters. Triple-pane is available if you want it, but honestly the cost-benefit doesn't make much sense for most homes in our area. What matters more is the quality of the window itself and how well it's installed. A well-built double-pane window, properly installed with no air gaps, will outperform a poorly installed triple-pane every time.
Yes. Windows and doors are available in a wide range of colours, finishes, hardware styles, and glass options. Interior and exterior colours can be different. We'll bring samples to your quote appointment so you can see what you're getting.
Premium vinyl windows are built to last 25+ years with minimal maintenance. Unlike wood, they don't rot, warp, or need painting. The main thing that can fail over time is the glass seal - if you see fogging between the panes, that's covered under the manufacturer warranty.
Warranty & Trust
We offer a lifetime workmanship warranty on all our installations - if something fails because of how it was installed, we'll fix it at no charge. All products also carry a limited lifetime manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and glass failure. The product warranty is fully transferable to the next owner when you sell your home, which adds real value to your property.
Yes. Fehr Contracting carries full liability insurance and WSIB coverage on every job. You know who's showing up and you're covered.
Call us. We stand behind our work. If it's an installation issue, we come back and fix it at no charge - no runaround, no fine print. If it's a product defect, we handle the manufacturer warranty claim on your behalf.
